The music of Sir Malcolm Arnold is known to far more people than recognize his name, through his award-winning scores for fearture films (The Bridge on the River Kwai, among dozens more).
Arnold is famous as one of the best tune-smiths of our time, and some of the reasons why are his immortal Scottish and English Dances. Arnold upholds the British heritage of virtuoso brass bands in his comic march The Padstow Lifeboat. Also included are his ceremonial marches for wind band, HRH The Duke of Cambridge and Overseas. The spooky dramatics of Tam O'Shanter have seldom been so explosive as in this preformance by the Dallas Wind Symphony and it's energetic new Music Director, Jerry Junkin.
Recorded by "Prof." Keith Johnson in the Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas, using the astounding new HDCD? process, Arnold for Band is an essential wind band release.

马尔科姆·阿诺德，1921年10月21日出生于英格兰北安普敦郡。
马尔科姆·阿诺德在皇家音乐学院跟随戈登—雅各布学习作曲，跟随欧内斯特-霍尔学习长号。
1941年，加入伦敦交响乐团长号队，并于1943年成为主奏手。
在服了两年的兵役以及参加了一个赛季的BBC交响乐团的演出之后，于1946年回到伦敦爱乐乐团。但这时，他的主要兴趣已经转到作曲上面，并已经推出了一系列很有美丽的作品。早期作品以《the comedy overture Beckus the Dandipratt, Op.5》（1943年）最为著名。此作品于1948年由伦敦爱乐乐团录制发行，指挥为爱德华-凡-贝努姆。
