蒲松龄（张铁林 饰）同时与付雪倩（王菁华 饰）和刘五可（常远 饰）两位绝世美人结缘，却不知该如何选择。最终，善良的刘五可不忍心看深爱的人为难，主动退出了这段三角恋情，然而，就在聊斋准备与付雪倩成亲之时，却遭到了付雪倩的父亲的强烈反对，这段婚事因此不了了之。
聊斋决定出发寻 找下落不明的刘五可，却在深山之中迷了路，之后遇见了孤魂和女狐，牵扯出了一段纠缠不清的人鬼奇缘，谁知一切都是他的一场黄粱大梦。蒲松林赶往济南参加科考，解释了秀才宿介，哪知道一场意外让按察使刘大人对他大为不满，与此同时，宿介的妹妹红莲爱上了正直老实的聊斋
